Wine, bread, wurst, and schnapps…Ja!

Jurgen has many acres of grapes, and fruit trees, they grow grapes for the local winery, Astheimer!  Jurgen helps put on the local winefest, that we participated in on Sunday night. Late Sunday night Uncle Philipp brought out a half empty bottle of schnapps for everyone to taste, unfortunately, Cousin Christian drank most of it, and ended the evening talking loudly and cotinuously, while we were all in bed! Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah (only in german).IMG_0119

This evening we decided Cousin Christian (Cousin Eddy, for the National Lampoon’s European Vacation, fans following along) was not allowed to have anymore schnapps.  It turns out the Uncle Philipp and Cousin Jurgen, actually produce several varieties of schnapps from the fruit they grow.  WOW!!  That’s Smooooth! and strong stuff, that will grow hair on your chest!  As you can see by the photo they have a still in the work shed.

We are have a great time with the family, everyone as been wonderful, with there hospitality, and the stories about my Mom.  Earlier today, we stop by my mother best friends for coffee and to see her daugthers, Petra & Sabine.  Carla and I were welcomed in to a coffee klotch comprised of 6 german ladies that all were friends of my Mom.  It was overwelming.  It was all I could do to keep myself composed. I was having a hard time just trying to breath.  Listening to all the wonderful things they had to say about her.  This group has ben meeting every Monday, for the last 50 years, for coffee, cake and conversation.  Petra and Sabine were there, we were able to talk for several hours.  What a great day.  I need to sign off and get soe rest, we are going to throw Cousin Christian out of bed at 6:00am, tomorrow.
